My favorite hair care items

Updated: Mar 19

(Curly Hair Edition)

I had no idea my hair was super curly until junior high, even though I’ve always been a "curly girl." My hair was brushed out, and it had a lovely poofy, frizzy, wavy look to it. When I entered high school, I sported a popular chin-length hairstyle from the late 80s and 90s. The triangle appearance. Now that I'm in my later adult years, I've begun to celebrate my curls by taking care of them, discovering products, and using tips to make management much easier while learning to love my locks.

As I've mentioned to a few others, one of the key things you'll want to find is a hair stylist who is a great match for you, someone who understands curly hair and your hair goals so they can be celebrated. It's wonderful to find someone who truly understands your desires and can help you achieve your hair goals!

There are definitely experts in curly hair, but from my experience, it's all about finding someone who truly listens and can support you on your curly hair journey. I've tried various hair care products for over two decades, and while not everything was a success, there are a few that I've recently made staples in my CHJ (Curly Hair Journey).

I really hope you discover something in my list that helps you out, or at least inspires you to keep searching for what works best for you!

$9.71

This type is always changing, depending on how well it takes to my hair. Mielle leave-in conditioner is the best so far for not making my hair feel weighted down.

$18.70

(This isn't for curly hair but since I'm coloring my hair lighter as I embrace my gray hair, this helps in taking out tone down the orange/rust hue.) I appreciate products that I can make part of my shower time to make it more of my time instead of it feeling like a chore. The affect is subtle depending on how long you leave this in your hair.

$8.47

This is the updated Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue (picture below)

With the multipul products I cycle through during the month. I use this almost every time I wash my hair, due to the amount of product in my hair.

$21.25

When I need a deeper scalp shampoo, this is my go-to when I need a hair refresh.

$7.64

When I need something deeper for hydration, this is it for me. I use this bimonthly.

$9.99

Another hair treatment that I use once or twice a month.

$17.84

When I need my fingers to work on my scalp products and I don't want to ruin my nails, these scalp scrubbers really help do the job.

$0.00 (Currently out of stock?)

This is a great upgrade to a regular scalp scrubber since this one vibrates. Especially with thick curly hair, which helps scrub and help remove products.

$5.42

I picked this tip from a curly hair website years ago. I use this more of a touch-up when I'm away from home or before I go to bed. I moisturize with this sparingly.

$16.99

I find this so helpful when cutting down on daily styling. Sometimes I just use a satin scrunchie.

$0.00 (currently out of stock?)

This spray has been my go-to for a very long time. Even with trying other curl sprays and/or curl refreshers. I always fall back on this one as it helps bring the curl back.

$7.99

This has been a HUGE help in stopping frequent hair stops in my shower drain.

$14.80

This is another staple and part of my curly hair care.

Since there are 2 per box, I'll do this treatment twice a month. Plus, appreciate the "Improved!" formula.

$8.99

I've been very interested in bar shampoos and conditioners. This was the first one I've tried, and so far its great as a substitute along with my curl shampoo.
